When I first sat down to learn sewing, I’ll admit it—I was uncertain. The machine felt complicated, the patterns confusing, and I was sure I’d ruin more fabric than I’d use. But as I slowly figured it out, something surprising happened. Each stitch taught me patience. Each project built my confidence. And with every finished piece, I discovered not just a new skill, but a sense of accomplishment.
Navigating a major life change often feels the same. It’s hard at first. Awkward. Even frustrating. But just like stitching a seam, moving forward is all about taking one small step at a time. Both situations remind us we’re capable of more than we think.
At Pillows In Peace, we see this connection every day. That connection is why we exist. Having faced sudden life changes and walked my kids through uncertain times, I understand how important it is to feel safe, secure, and loved. Now, on the other side of those challenges, I want to encourage others that they can move forward—they are capable, and they are loved. For me, making book pillows has become a way to share that encouragement with others.
So, whether you’re picking up a new craft or taking steps to rebuild your life, give yourself grace. Embrace the process, even when it feels messy. Trust that the work you’re doing—whether it’s with fabric or your own life—is creating something beautiful.
If you’d like to join us in bringing comfort to others through crafting, we’d love to have you. Whether you sew, knit, crochet, or donate supplies, there’s a place for you in this mission. Together, we can use our hands to make something meaningful, one stitch at a time.
Let’s remind the world—and ourselves—that even in transitions, there’s hope, peace, and comfort to be found.
